Testimony of Conversion
When I didn’t know Christ, I worshipped the false gods and goddesses according to my people's customs. I also took deep interest in their devotion. Once my father sent me to work in the fields in April of 2005, after I came back in the afternoon to take some rest, I felt suffocation, hard to breath. I felt that I was dead. I called my father for help and asked him to bring water for me.
At that moment, I remembered one thing which I had heard from a preacher, it was a prayer. So, I prayed, “O God of Christians, please heal me” – and I was healed! I received healing, but I didn’t commit my life to God. As time went on, sometimes I prayed, but most of the time I did not. So, this is how I kept a distance from God.
One day I opened my Bible and read 2 Timothy 2:2, and God spoke to my heart through His Word. I started reading the Bible and confessed my sins before God. This was the start of my spiritual life. My sins were forgiven and received a new life in Christ. I also started reading the Bible and praying.
I prayed for two years, about my goals in life. And asked God to lead and show me where I could serve. So, together with a friend I started telling others about Christ in a nearby state to ours. And I heard from God’s word to “Preach the Word”. I didn’t know much about Theology, but God was my witness and He helped me.
When I started preaching the Gospel, few people reported to the local police that that I was converting people. One Sunday I was caught and beaten by the authorities. They wanted to send me to jail, in a false case. God delivered me even from their hands. Still in another instance my own village had opposed me but God is my help. Another time, some extremists caught me in a town market. They beat me and wanted to throw me in the river because I shared gospel in the villages, but God delivered me even from their hands. I’m thankful for the work that God is enabling me to do for His kingdom. May His kingdom come.
