This past week, Sam Waldron taught a course on eschatology hosted by Centers for Baptist Theology (CTB). HeartCry's missionaries in Peru were all present for the teaching, and Sam also had the opportunity to preach twice in the church that Paul Washer planted in Barranco, Lima. The Lord greatly used the teaching and preaching to encourage our Peruvian brothers and sisters. Here is a portion of Sam's report from his time in Lima:
I read this morning:
"My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn." (Ps. 57:7-8 NAU)
This is the way my heart feels. God really helped in the lectures with the Centers for Baptist Theology to feel freshness and strength. Exactly what I asked you to pray for. He also gave unusual help in both times of preaching Sunday and Thursday. Thursday was special. I spoke on "Looking at things which are unseen" from 2 Corinthians 4:18 to 5:11. There were people weeping or holding back tears in the church. The place was packed at 8pm on a Thursday evening. They ran out of their normal chairs and had to set up older plastic ones they don't normally use. Let me give all praise to God. Let me also says that when things like that happen a phrase comes to mind. "A light is arising in the South for World Christianity."
