The work of missions here in the valley of Huaylas is difficult work. The field of labor is big and our greatest challenge is to reach the Quechua communities, especially the heads of the households. Many of the men are slaves of “machismo,” slaves of their saint festivals that go on for weeks, and slaves of drunkenness that causes fights in their homes and ongoing poverty. But we believe that the gospel of Christ breaks the bondage of sin, so we continue with our attempt to reach these scattered communities. Some of them insult us and close their doors to us, but others listen and receive the word. We return to the homes that receive us and continue studying the Scriptures with them.
