The recent training conference for pastors in South India was greatly blessed by the Lord. All of HeartCry’s training conferences are designed to help local indigenous pastors to further their understanding of Scripture, which in turn will have a massive impact on their lives and preaching. Just by watching and listening to the pastors who were in attendance, it became obvious to me that the Lord was helping to accomplish these very things. Below are a few quotes from some of the men who attended the conference:
“In this conference, I have seen Jesus Christ on the cross in a way that I have never seen before. It melted my heart.” – Pastor A.
“Because of this conference, the way I look at the Scriptures has changed. I now seek to find Christ in all of it.” – Duke B. (student)
“My daughters and I recorded the messages on my phone, and we are still listening to them. We have been truly affected by the teaching in the conference.” – Pastor R.B.
“I have seen many American preachers, but I have never seen men who taught from Scripture like this before. I am very thankful to Pastor Samuel for inviting me to the conference.” – Pastor S.
The themes of this year’s conference were “Seeing Christ in God’s Word” and “Showing Christ to God’s People.” Pastor Jim and Pastor Jordan labored on these themes for four days with the local pastors. Pastor Jim gave us an overview of seeing Jesus Christ from eternity past to eternity future. Under this overarching theme, he spoke about seeing Jesus Christ from the writings of Moses, from the prophets, from the fulfilled prophecies in the New Testament, and from the book of Revelation. This last part was particularly encouraging, because we saw that Christ has become our future hope and that He will return with the angelic host to execute judgment and to establish His future Kingdom with His people.
Interspersed between Pastor Jim’s teachings, Pastor Jordan spoke to us about the biblical calling and qualifications of an elder. He showed us that one of the ways that we “show Christ to God’s people” is through being a biblical elder according to I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. On the final day, Pastor Jordan explained in great detail what the true Gospel is. Many pastors confessed that it was a spiritual feast for them. Some even admitted that they had not rightly understood the Gospel before and that they had never heard such things.
Please pray that all the pastors and laymen who attended the conference will have an increasing desire to know the truth, live the truth, and preach the truth. God has graciously left one outlet in His Church to dispel the darkness: pulpits that are filled by men of God who preach the Gospel unashamedly without any compromise. Join with me in prayer that the Lord would raise up such pulpits to bring His purposes to pass.
