Last month, pastors from many different towns and villages throughout the jungles of northern Peru met for a week of training in the town of Chazuta, near the city of Tarapoto. In addition to the training, HeartCry gave all forty pastors a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance. Although it may not seem like much to a Christian in the United States, such a resource is pure gold to a pastor who has no other study tool. Last year, HeartCry provided the same men with study Bibles. In the upcoming yearly conferences, each pastor will continue to receive more resources until they are equipped with a basic pastoral library. The reason for distributing only a few resources at each conference instead of an entire library all at once is to ensure the men’s faithfulness.
The following is an email sent to HeartCry from Micah Tuttle, an American missionary who is devoted to training up men for the ministry in Peru’s jungles:
“I wanted to write you to tell you that we had a great time with brother Eddy Solano [HeartCry administrator in Peru] here in the city of Tarapoto and in the village of Chazuta. The Strong’s Concordances were a great blessing to all forty students. All of them were very grateful and want to take full advantage of this resource. Some traveled four days in order to attend the conference in Chazuta, which was led by David Sills. The number of concordances was perfect for the number of students present, and during the course of the week, brother Jairo taught the men how to use this valuable tool. We give thanks to God for using HeartCry in the equipping of pastors here in the Peruvian jungle.”
Please pray that the Lord might continue to use the training of these men in order to bear fruit in Peru and that the literary resources might enable these men to more clearly expound the Word of God.
