Church Planter - Nepal
Chandra C. was converted after being an orthodox Hindu and a fortune teller. He was evangelized by Gopal G., and he later took leadership of a church that Gopal had planted. Chandra has been pastoring this church since 2005.
Testimony of Conversion
I am Chandra C., I am married, and I was born in 1957. I have six daughters and one granddaughter. I was born and brought up in an orthodox Hindu family. From my childhood, I grew up observing the Hindu religious customs and traditions. I studied many Hindu religious books like the Bhagavad Gita, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. I also studied some astrology. I was a palm reader as well as a soothsayer. I did this kind of job until I was 44 years of age. But I was not satisfied with this work, and I wondered about my life.
Later on, I came to know something about Christianity. In 1995, I saw a sick person get healed after he was prayed for by Christians. This had a substantial impact on my mind about Christianity and the Christian God. I realized that there is some power in the Christian God. However, I was not clear about Jesus Christ. In 2002, in the month of August, Pastor Gopal G. came to my house and shared about Christ. Then I came to know more about who Jesus is. I realized that I was a sinner and I needed God’s grace. I accepted the Lord as my personal Savior and was baptized in 2003.
Description of Ministry
In May 2003, we started a new fellowship in my home. I was growing in the Lord, and I had a zeal and passion to know more from the Bible. I went to Delhi, India, in 2004 for a three-month Bible course. When I finished my study, I returned back to Nepal and began to be involved in the ministry. I found God’s calling for my life to minister to His people. Then in 2005, pastor Gopal handed over to me the leadership of the local church, and he went to a new place for his evangelistic and church planting work. I am continuing to shepherd the flock as an elder of the church to this day.
I thank God for His wonderful work in my life. I also want to give thanks to the HeartCry family for their support and prayers for my ministry and family. Please continue to pray for my family and my ministry that I can serve His people faithfully.
