It is always a real blessing to meet people for the first time many thousands of miles away from home, across oceans and cultures, yet knowing immediately that you have so much in common all because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That was the case on my recent visit to the north of India. What a joy it was, and what an enormous learning and growth experience for me, the one who was asked to go and teach these precious people. Where did I go and why? If the state of Uttar Pradesh was an i... Keep Reading

One Day, Might There be a Church? (Cambodia)

Posted December 1, 2016  by: J. T. |0 Comments

Pastor Jon poignantly wrote in his diary: "Sad that in my mind at least they'll never get free from this. Sad that there's nothing I can do about it. Sad, ultimately, that I didn’t see any Christians reaching out to the poor in Sihanoukville, which is why I’m here, helping a ministry that will one day have a church in this province, maybe even in this city …hopeless poverty and sexual exploitation is right outside our hotel."... David Croteau in Asia Teaching Hermeneutics

Posted August 4, 2016  by: J. T. |0 Comments

I was honored to have the opportunity in July 2016 to travel to Cambodia and Nepal to train indigenous pastors in biblical interpretation. While I have taught New Testament and hermeneutics courses in higher education in America for ten years, nothing is more important to me than training pastors how to read the Bible accurately themselves. The art and science of biblical interpretation can be taught in such a way that it actually robs people of having confidence in their ability to interpret Go... Keep Reading
